We are heading to Birgu to unlock the heavy doors of the Inquisitor’s Palace.
For hundreds of years, the Inquisitors lived here as the direct representatives of the Pope, holding authority that rivalled even the Grand Masters of the Knights of St. John.
Date: Sunday 12th April
Time: 10am
Meeting point: Victory Sqaure, Birgu at 9:45am

Walk the same halls where future pontiffs once paced! Did you know that this palace was a stepping stone to the highest office in the Catholic Church? Two of the Inquisitors who ruled here later became Popes.

Descend into the chilling reality of the tribunal. Our guides will take you through the torture chamber and the prison complex, where the accused awaited their fate. It is a stark reminder of a time when confession was extracted at any cost.

Before you even enter, look closely at the palace façade. You will see the jagged marks of shrapnel from World War II aerial bombings. This building has survived not just political intrigue but the devastation of modern warfare.

From the piano nobile where the Inquisitor lived in luxury, to the damp cells carved with graffiti by prisoners centuries ago, you will experience the stark contrast between the rulers and the condemned.
