Recanati & Giardini Naxos

Forza D’Agro & lunch
Get your cameras ready! We’re on our way to one of the most beautiful mountain villages in Sicily – Forza D’agro. Forza d'Agrò is a town in the Metropolitan City of Messina. It is on the lower peak of a small mountain, while on the higher peak that overlooks the town are the remains of a Norman castle. Much of the town consists of traditional buildings and stone paved lanes that are impassable by car. Due to this lack of modernization, Forza d'Agrò has featured as the backdrop in several films, such as Francis Coppola’s The Godfather trilogy. This is also where you will have lunch at a restaurant of your choice. The town is well known for its fish restaurants but also pizzerias. Following lunch, we will have time to explore the laid-back atmosphere of this rural mountain village.
Following Forza D’Agro, we now board our coach and leave for what is described as one of the most beautiful villages in the whole of Italy - Castelmola. Castelmola is a stunning hilltop town in Sicily, Italy. It’s located just a short distance away from Taormina. Castelmola is worth visiting because of its spectacular mountain top location & panoramic views, winding streets, a castle, historical building and shops with ceramic displays.Castelmola was originally built to protect Taormina from attacks. You can observe the remains of the Castello di Mola at the top of the town.
We dedicate our late afternoon to a visit to the iconic town of Taormina. The hilltop town offers it’s visitors an insight into what Sicily is all about. The main walking street of Corso Umberto leads you to most of the interesting landmarks and dramatic viewpoints. Before you know it, you’ll find yourself with camera in hand, shooting photos of the astounding views from Piazza IX Aprile. You might also wish to visit Taormina’s ancient Teatro Greco (Greek Theatre) is spectacularly set against the Ionian seascape, with the silhouettes of Mount Etna in the background. It’s a wonderful sight on its own, featuring the intact stadium, terraces, and preserved stone walls, together with the ruins of an ancient temple and the stage’s large columns.
It has been a long day where we had the opportunity to see some of Sicily’s finest locations. Now it’s time to get back to the hotel where we will enjoy dinner, some wine (and water), which are already included in the price.
Time for breakfast… during which you will certainly find yourself speaking with your new friends about the beautiful scenery witnessed yesterday.
Get your bags ready as we’ll be leaving the hotel for another exciting day which offers a combination of shopping and more sightseeing.
We will leave the hotel at 10am, therefore you might want to embrace the opportunity to enjoy the scenery around the hotel.
Sicilia Outlet Village
Our first visit today will be the famous Sicilia Outlet Village in Enna. This is where you can purchase branded items at discounted prices. The world-renowned brands include Michael Kors, Hugo Boss, Gucci, Moschino, Versace, Armani, Alcott, Borbonese, Calvin Klein Underwear, Dolce & Gabbana, Levi’s, Furla and many others.
If shopping is not really your thing…worry not! You might want to consider joining your tour leader to enjoy a visit to Enna, in particular the Castello Di Lombardia.
Geographically speaking, Enna is the highest point in Sicily. The
Enna is a wonderful town to just wander around, soak up the atmosphere and take in the breath-taking views. However, it also contains many historical buildings and places of interest.
The Castello di Lombardia is a must to visit, as it is one of the most important examples of military architecture in Sicily. Although only six of its original twenty towers remain, it is none the less impressive as it dominates part of the town.
Enna has a strong defensive military history - its position at the top of sheer cliffs meant that it was extremely hard to capture; indeed, it is said that whenever it exchanged hands throughout history it was inevitably through treachery, not force.
Porte Di Catania
On our way to the airport we will enjoy one more stop at the one of Sicily’s most popular shopping malls – Le Porte Di Catania.
With over 150 shops the shopping mall literally offers something for everyone, including restaurants and cafeterias.
The group will be given time to sort and settle the shopping bags before we leave for Fontanarossa Airport.
Riviera dei Ciclopi (optional)
Once again those who are not so fond of shopping are being given another option. This time, it’s the Riviera Dei Ciclopi – a panoramic view of a stretch of coastline north of Catania leading from Aci Castello to Acireale. This is such a beautiful part of Sicily and is surrounded by myth and legend.
We arrive at the airport to get ready for check in.
Our Air Malta flight leaves Catania at 23.45.
Our scheduled arrival in Malta is at 00.25, all packed and all smiles.
